Fix the problems Google can see and you can’t
Great content won’t rank if Google can’t crawl it, can’t index it or gives up waiting for it to load. Technical SEO is the plumbing of a website. Nobody notices it until something leaks.
It’s the foundation for everything else in our SEO campaigns.

What we look at
Crawling and indexing
Pages blocked by robots.txt, accidental noindex tags, duplicate pages and canonicals pointing the wrong way. Search Console’s page indexing report shows what Google left out and why.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
The targets are 2.5 seconds for Largest Contentful Paint, 200 milliseconds for Interaction to Next Paint and 0.1 for Cumulative Layout Shift. Core Web Vitals explained goes through each.
Mobile
Google uses the mobile version of a site’s content for indexing and ranking. Content left out of your mobile pages may not be seen at all.
Structured data
Schema markup helps Google understand your business, products and services. It won’t rescue a weak page, but it can make your listing eligible for richer results.
Site structure
Logical addresses, sensible internal links and a sitemap that only lists pages you want found.
HTTPS and redirects
Every page over HTTPS, with no mixed content warnings, redirect chains or loops.
How it works
Audit
It usually starts with an SEO audit, which gives a ranked list of fixes.
Fix
We work through them as a one-off project or as part of an ongoing campaign. Some are WordPress settings, some need code. We can do both, or brief your developer.
Confirm
We check Search Console afterwards to make sure each fix has landed.

Why it gets missed
Technical problems are invisible to most site owners. The site looks fine, the pages load on the office computer, and the contact form works when you test it. Meanwhile Google is quietly ignoring a third of the pages.
They also creep in over time. A plugin update adds a script to every page. Someone duplicates a page and forgets to change the title. A developer blocks the staging site from Google and the setting comes across at launch.
Search Console catches a lot of this, but only if someone reads it. Part of what we do is simply keep an eye on it, so small problems get fixed before they turn into big ones.
We explain each fix in plain terms as well. You don’t need to understand canonical tags to run a business, but you should know what was wrong, what we changed and why it matters.
Page builder sites
- ✓Most of the sites we work on are WordPress builds using Impreza, Elementor or Beaver Builder
- ✓We know where builders add weight and how to trim it without a rebuild
- ✓Oversized images, plugin bloat and heavy third-party scripts are the usual culprits
Speed in context
Speed is one signal among many, and it won’t lift a page that doesn’t answer the search. It does affect whether visitors stick around long enough to get in touch. The website speed guide covers the wider picture.
Technical work is quoted from the audit findings, so you see the list of fixes and the hours before anything starts.
The big fixes often are. But plugins update, content gets added and things break, so it’s worth checking regularly.
Some fixes are settings in WordPress. Others need code. We can handle both, or brief your own developer.
Possibly. Fixing a site you’re about to replace can be wasted effort. Read about our website migrations first.
We test changes on a staging copy where we can, and keep backups before changing anything on the live site.
Google Search Console and PageSpeed Insights, a crawler for site-wide checks, and your analytics.
Indirectly. Slow or unreliable hosting affects speed and can cause errors when Google visits. Good hosting removes one common problem.
A line of code that tells Google which version of a page is the main one, when the same content can be reached at more than one address.
Not necessarily. Most speed problems come from images, plugins and scripts, not the theme itself. We’ll tell you if the theme really is the issue.
Sometimes. It depends on why. We’ll look at Search Console for any manual actions and work out what’s behind the drop.
